Our Water Heating Products

At Don's Heating & Cooling, we offer installation, maintenance and repair services on the following water heating systems:

  • Hot water tanks. Standard hot water tanks work by storing and heating water in a large cylindrical tank. These tanks are typically heated using natural gas, propane or electricity, and can contain between 180 and 270 litres (40 and 60 gallons) of water. They're a great option for families who need an affordable and reliable source of hot water.

  • Tankless water heaters. Tankless water heaters provide hot water on demand, which means you benefit from a virtually endless supply of hot water whenever you need it. They’re also more energy-efficient than traditional storage water heaters because they don’t need to repeatedly reheat the water. Over time, this can help you save money on your energy bills. Enjoy endless hot showers with options like the Navien high-efficiency condensing tankless water heater.

  • Combi boilers. A combi boiler provides both space heating and hot water. It uses a metal heat exchanger to instantly heat hot water when needed. Unlike traditional boilers, combi boilers don’t require a separate hot water storage tank, freeing up valuable space. We carry options like the NTI TRX high-efficiency, wall-hung boiler with advanced Wi-Fi connectivity, making it a reliable and convenient option.

How to Choose the Right Water Heating System for Your Home

Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a water heating system for your home:

  • Fuel type. It’s important to consider the energy source for your water heater, including its availability and cost. In Ontario, most water heating systems are heated by natural gas or electricity.

  • Hot water needs. The capacity of the water heater you choose depends largely on the number of people living in your home and how much water you use. For example, you must look at how many litres (or gallons) a standard tank hot water tank holds or how many gallons per minute (GPM) a tankless water heater provides.

  • Energy efficiency. Choosing an ENERGY STAR® -certified water heater is an easy way to ensure you’re getting a reliable water heater with high-quality performance. However, you should also consider the unit’s energy factor (EF) rating.
